Westboro is known for its schools with high-quality education making it an excellent choice for families with children. There are numerous daycares and a Montessori based school for early age development. School-age children have public, Catholic, and private schooling options in both English and French. Westboro is a community of active residents and you will find them enjoying outdoor activities in every season. From skiing, biking, and hiking the many trails to white-water rafting on the Ottawa River rapids to swimming and enjoying water activities at Westboro Beach. As well, you will see commuters to downtown Ottawa on the bike path most of the year.

In addition, The Dovercourt Recreation Centre offer recreational activities for all ages: pool, sauna, water slide, dance school, tennis courts, arts, culture and general interest classes, sports programs, and much more.

Every June, Westboro hosts WestFest, a free outdoor music festival with a lineup of local and Canada’s favourite performers. Also included in the festivities is the Family Fun Zone with tonnes of activities for children, the WestFest Market where local artisans and vendors feature their works, food trucks, Party Zone for 19+, Sunday morning Yoga, Indigenous Pavilion and more.

Westboro Village’s pedestrian-friendly commercial streets are Richmond Road and Churchill Avenue. Both are brimming with trendy boutiques, unique dining establishments, one-of-a-kind stores, hip coffee shops, gourmet speciality stores etc. Murals painted by local artists also help create its charming and unique atmosphere along with quaint heritage architecture. Family-friendly restaurants include The Works (everyone’s favourite burger chain) and Napoli’s, a popular spot for Italian food. More health-conscious parents will enjoy Pure Kitchen and The Table, which serve creative vegan fare that both kids and adults love.

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the concentration of stores geared towards their adventurings such as Mountain Equipment Coop, Bushtukah, and Trailhead, which have a massive selection of camping and sporting gear. The Westboro business district features services from health and wellness to spas, travel, dentist, doctors, banks, music, pets, auto shops, groceries, LCBO, nightlife, and much more. Everything you need can be found in Westboro and if you want even more selection, downtown Ottawa is just a short drive away.

With a population of over 22,000, Westboro is mostly made up of well to do families as well as seniors who are downsizing to an urban environment.

Two OC Transpo stations, Westboro and Dominion, serve the area on the rapid Transitway as well as an O-Train stop so public transportation to and from the area is convenient and quick.
