There is no shortage of things to do in Orleans. For outdoor adventurers, there are a multitude of nature trails for biking and hiking as well as an abundance of parks and green spaces. Petrie Island is a favourite spot for the area’s residents with its sandy beaches, walking trails, lagoons with turtles, and a nature centre built to educate visitors about the flora and fauna in the area. Location and Transportation
Orleans is located on the eastern end of the city along the Ottawa River. It is 16 km from the downtown core and approximately a 10-minute commute along Highway 417 and 26 km from Ottawa International Airport.
There is extensive bus service to the rest of the city although a vehicle is recommended to get around the area itself which makes commuting to Downtown Ottawa a breeze!
